PURPOSE OF FOCUS: At F.O.C.U.S., we are passionate about our purpose at OSU! Our purpose is to set young adults free to grow in Christ, equipping them to make fully informed purposeful responses to the call of God on their life. Our desire is that they would choose to live loving, missional lives for the kingdom of God. This purpose is served through Bible study, through community and discipleship, throu mission and service experiences. We honor and respect their commitment and desire only to enhance their spiritual development with helpful information, practice and vision to enable them to love and serve the Lord in their profession as well as their private life.
THE VISION OF FOCUS: To be a ministry that inspires students to live sacrifically for the cause of Jesus
THE MISSION OF FOCUS: To help students develop a relationship with Jesus in order to influence the world around them

Our fall season is busy but good as we have gotten all of our semester programs underway. Also, now that the college football season has started up again we have started having students over to the Table on game day to tailgate. It's been so fun to eat lunch with them, play some games outside and hang out before the game starts. We really enjoy these times we get with the students.
On October 3 there is no game, so we are taking this opportunity to serve those in the community around us. We are having a free car wash in Hasting's parking lot with our students to show the love of Jesus to those we come into contact with. Pray that this would bring Him glory.

SUMMER AT FOCUS: As you would probably guess, things at FOCUS slow down a bit come summer time, but that doesn't mean there's nothing going on. Here's a look at some of the things we've been up to since school got out.
CAMDEN TRIP: Normally, we kick the summer off with a mission trip to Juarez Mexico, where we spend a couple days building a house for a bamily in need. But because of some instability in the area, we decided to do something a little different. This year our group headed to Camden, NJ to work with an organization called Urban Promise. During the week, our students served in a number of different capacities. They organized a library and a tool room, did landscaping around various buildings, built some bunk beds, spent time playing and working with Urban Promise kids and even spent a day laying a brick sidewalk! Our hope is that God used our efforts to truly belss those at Urban Promise, and also that He used this trip to make a long term impact in our students' hearts.
FUN NIGHTS: As usual, we've put together a number of fun nights for those students who've stuck around for summer classes or jobs. Early in June we had a cook out/swim party at the house of some of our church friends. Later in the month we went to Guthrie to watch a movie at the drive-in theater. We also made our annual Redhawks trip down to OKC. Perhaps the coolest trip we took was to a place called Pops in Arcadia, OK. Pops is a restaurant/convenient store on Route 66 that sells over 500 different kinds of soda pop from around the country. The thing that makes these trips so great is the fact that they provided us with a chance to get to know our students better in a smaller group setting.
August 2009
We can hardly believe August is here, and just around the corner the start of a brand new school year! This summer has been a good change of pace for us, but we sure are looking forward to having the students back in town.
In the past, we have held a lunch for the college students at Sunnybrook Christian Church the Sunday after classes start. This year we are doing on the Sunday before classes start as well as the Sunday after. This is a great way to meet students and for them to catch the vision God has laid on our hears for the year. Please keep these two Sundays in your prayers. Lights on Stillwater will be held on Wednesday, August 19. Pray for new connections with students who are in need of Jesus in their life.
We are very excited about what God has in store for this ministry this year. Pray that hearts and lives will be changed for His glory this year! Thank you for partnering with us in this ministry!
